PLAYING THE FIELD

Aren't these Hammer bats BEEEEUTIFUL??? Look at the little doodle on the mitt..cute!!

HONK IF YOU LOVE HAMMER!!

THE WEATHER..CHILI TODAY

We went from summer to winter...in a flash!! It was actually in the frigid 70's today..oh we Californians are a spoiled bunch..I think I'll warm up with a little Chili...Davis....uh uh....
This is a great picture of Chili signed to MC Hammer...just click on the picture for a close up...

YOU BUILD IT..THEY WILL COME

I was a tomboy growing up and my favorite sport was baseball.. I have a classmate who emailed me and told me about a play that I made in 5th grade and how my tongue always stuck out when I was at bat and my wide stance..and how I choked up high..isn't it amazing what we can remember from many years ago, but find it hard to remember why we even walked into a room for something..and by the way, the classmate with the great memory was reminding me of something that happened almost 50 years ago!! Thank you Mark Roberts for remembering!!
These baseball/softball pictures are of Hammer when he was young..They are classic. I wonder if he was wearing the 'I see ya' mitt in the picture of him catching that fly ball .

THE NEGOTIATOR

I think I will become a sports writer...how hard can it be? The biggest sports news now is not who was just signed with the 49rs, but rather who sat in on the negotiation deal! If I need stats, I can just google and copy them...and if I want to make snide comments and dis someone that I don't even know, I guess I can just talk out of my ass like everyone else because that is all that I am hearing from sports writers all over the country..about how MC Hammer was involved and why in the Hell he was even in the same room with Parker and Crabtree..!! Whether Hammer had anything to do with this or not, I just wanted to give a little heads up if anyone actually cares.. For the record, in 1985, Stanley Kirk Burrell(Hammer) was already quite the negotiator..His company was Asset Financial Group..it was a marketing and promotions outfit that represented famous sports figures and they would fit their clients with major media sponsors, organizations, etc..One of his clients was Ricky 'Showtime' Henderson...and the potential fit? Showtime..the Movie Channel. You can view the actual letters between AFG and Showtime..There were other athletes involved but my point is, no one seems to bother in getting to know who they are writing about..they just listen to this person or that person talking crap about someone and think that its gospel...over the years I have never seen anyone ragged on as much as Hammer..and it is the same ignorant comments all the time like a broken record and the reporters actually think they are funny when they write it in their columns..I guess telling the truth that MC Hammer is really an intelligent man who has had to overcome unfortunate circumstances because he trusted and helped so many people doesn't sell...telling lies and and making jokes at someone else's expense does.. Isn't that right Inquiring Minds?

Crabtree finally signs with 49ers, thanks to M.C. Hammer
By MJD

Ring the bell, school's back in!
Football is back in, too, for Michael Crabtree(notes). After a long holdout, he finally signed a contract with the San Francisco 49ers. As it turns out, all they needed was a little help from M.C. Hammer.
I actually have no idea what, if anything, M.C. Hammer contributed to negotiations, but he was in the room when the deal was reached. What qualifies Hammer to be there -- other than a mind to rhyme and two hype feet, of course -- I couldn't tell you. According to excellent 49ers beat reporter Matt Maiocco, though, Hammer's an old friend of Crabtree's agent, Eugene Parker.
Maiocco tweeted several updates about Crabtree, Parker and Hammer on his Twitter page. He also posted a recap of his day attempting to cover the negotiations, including Hammer seeming offended when Maiocco asked him who he was. Hammer, don't hurt 'em!
Yes, folks, I later found out there was a very good reason this man looked like Hammer. It was Hammer. And although one hotel employee told me Crabtree said to Hammer, "Get it done," as he entered the SUV, it's safe to say that Hammer has no role in the negotiations. Hammer is long time friends with Deion Sanders and Crabtree's agent, Eugene Parker. Sanders is a mentor for Crabtree.
Oh, well, as long as he knows Deion Sanders, of course Hammer should be there. Good for him, though. Hammer hasn't gotten this much attention since those Nationwide (is on yo side!) commercials stopped running.
ProFootballTalk.com is reporting that Crabtree signed a six-year deal with the 49ers, with $32 million in base salary, $17 million guaranteed, and some incentives on top of that. That's right about in line with what anyone picked 10th overall could've expected, so really, all Crabtree accomplished with his holdout was wasting a year of his career. Way to think it through, buddy.
As for Hammer, younger readers might not be familiar with him, so I think the best way to describe him is this: People my age think of Hammer now the way you're going to think of Soulja Boy in 20 years. It was amusing and enjoyable at the time, but eventually you'll be confused as to how the whole thing ever happened. And then he'll turn up and negotiate a contract for Matthew Stafford(notes) Jr.

FEEL MY POWER

What a great title of the album that launched MC Hammer's career..Feel My Power..Boy, did we ever..Capitol Records felt it too when they signed him!! Go Hammer!! I want to feel it again, Baby!!
